South African sprint runner and convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, was
secretly freed to attend the memorial service of his grandmother.
According to the Management of Kgosi Mampuru Jail, having considered the
29 year old as a 'low risk', they granted the Paralympian an exit of
four hours to join his family at a boutique hotel for the memorial
service of his grandmother, which took place on Friday, October 14,
2016.
However, the Special treatment has sparked a fuss in South Africa, with several persons describing the treatment as 'white privilege'.
Pistorius is currently serving a six-year jail sentence for the 2013 murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp
